Aug 20 Taste of Market & Co. Food Festival at Upper Canada Mall

I think it’s safe to say that for many of us, the picture-perfect summer is spent with family and friends drinking cold beer, sipping delicious wine, eating mouth-watering foods and rocking out to Bryan Adams “Summer of ‘69”. There is, however (or at least in my opinion), only one thing that’s better… a food festival. And for all you foodies out there, Upper Canada Mall will be hosting a new unique event, Taste of Market & Co. which will be sure to knock your socks off and send your taste buds to another dimension – or as Guy Fieri puts it, “flavour town”.

As a Newmarket local, I feel pretty lucky to have this festival, let alone every other event that takes place in Newmarket, so close to home. It’s almost a sigh of relief that I don’t need to commute to Toronto to experience what the city has to offer, and I’m quite alright with that.

Adding to the list of what makes Newmarket well beyond the ordinary, this free festival located at Market & Co. on August 22 from 5 to 9 p.m., will feature the best-selling, fresh and local food items from the market for $5 or less. Enjoy your day browsing everything the market has to offer, and indulge in delicious artisan and tapas style foods while sampling free beer, cider and wine from Market Brewing Co. and The Wine Shop.

If food and drink isn’t quite your forte, the festival will be offering interactive activities, live entertainment, giveaways and more. There will also be complimentary activation’s including a make-your-own BBQ dry rub station, mini-putt, corn hole and live music.

Taste of Market & Co. will also feature a live cooking session with renowned chef and TV personality, Matt Dean Pettit. Matt will be taking the cutting board from 6 to 9 p.m. in Kitchen & Co., where he will chef up and sample out his famous lobster mac & cheese from his Craft Seafood Co. line, Matty’s Seafood.

It’s no secret that Newmarket is a food lover’s paradise. From the Farmers’ Market and the annual Rib Festival to Newmarket’s own Made in Mexico scoring a feature on the Food Network’s “You Gotta Eat Here”, being a foodie in Newmarket has never been this easy.
