Where Passion Meets Productivity

I'm willing to bet that most, if not all of us, have had that experience at work where the internet can't keep up to whatever we are doing. Even during my Millennial right of passage of living and working downtown Toronto - I used to have to go to the local Starbucks or work from home to upload certain reports because our internet couldn't handle the number of people on our network who were trying to do the same thing.  But my internet needs, are nothing compared to the technology companies that we've profiled on this blog before.  These folks are doing big things, literally changing the world we live in via the Internet- and downtime is not a friend to productivity and game-changing.

In comes, the Envi Network; a community owned ISP.  The service provider is publicly owned and for-profit.  Phase 1 of the Envi Network runs along the Newmarket growth corridors (Davis Drive and Yonge Street) where intensification of both commercial and residential will be seen in the near future as well as along Harry Walker Parkway and Mulock Drive, serving the major employment areas in the community.   This ISP plans to bring affordable, uncapped broadband, first to businesses and then residents in Newmarket.

Techtalk host Marc Salztman interviewed Newmarket Mayor Tony Van Bynen and General Manager of Envi-Jim Gragtmans to showcase both the innovation in technology occurring in Newmarket and the potential impacts of the new ISP on local businesses and residents.  I encourage you to listen to the entire show but if you are in a rush -the Mayor first makes his appearance at 19:50.

If you have a business or development in these areas or in Newmarket anywhere- check out this really cool new piece of tech infrastructure.
