Lover of Dogs, People or Travel - There's a Place for You Here

Employees have the opportunity to interact with furry friends on Dog Days

What do you get when you cross a dog friendly office with before work workout challenges and a chance to earn trips with your colleagues? Did I hear you right? Did you guess Newmarket’s largest private sector employer? If so - you are absolutely right! Bill Gosling Outsourcing opened in Newmarket in 2003. This Company offers contact centre  services including customer service, client care, and accounts receivable management to companies located primarily in the United States & Canada. After reading other articles on the blog after where to work in Newmarket, Katelyn reached out and wanted to show me why she loved working at Bill Gosling Outsourcing (BGO).

I’m greeted by several friendly faces, given a visitor badge (most companies BGO works with require confidentiality) and start on the tour. I’m first shown through the halls and into many pretty amazing spaces. An employee locker room, gym, and relaxation (and ping-pong) room. All along the way there are photos of trips that staff have earned while working at BGO and in one particularly special place - recipients of a memorial award, recognizing employees who have characteristics similar to their colleagues that they’ve lost. The passion about these pieces is palatable.

Then Katelyn and her team take me on the floor, where all the magic happens. They explain that their office offers services in French, English and Spanish but that their staff has literally dozens of languages represented. BGO prides itself on diversity and inclusion - making sure that everyone who works there feels like this is their space too.

Then Katelyn introduces me to Lawrence. Lawrence is outgoing and friendly and super passionate about the work that he does. He started at BGO 9 years ago as a Trace Officer. Lawrence explains that over the past nine years he’s been able to grow his career and his life experiences. As an employee of BGO he has had the opportunity to travel to Manila and worked in the Virginia office. He also talks about the things he loves about working with the people at BGO. He tells me that he likes that there is enthusiasm for supporting community causes such as Southlake, the Big Bike and other places that are meaningful to the employees. Most of all, Lawrence raves about how amazing the people are at BGO. The staff, 65% of whom are under the age of 35 are close knit and everyone I talked to during my tour says the same thing about why they love working here - “It’s the people.”

After my tour, it’s fairly easy to see why so many people start working for and stay at Newmarket’s largest private sector employer. And, if you still aren’t convinced that this team in innovative and fun - check out how they got their name and the connection to the “Gift of the Goose”.
